LATE COMEBACK LIFTS OWLS
FAU stole victory from the jaws of defeat last time out against South Florida. After a two-hour lightning delay and halftime, the Owls trailed the Bulls 1-0. Constant pressure from FAU turned into an equalizing goal from Mia Sennes in the 67th minute, her first score of the year.
The Owls kept the foot on the gas pedal and the pressure on USF. In the second half, FAU out shot USF by a 9-3 margin for a 16-8 edge in shots on the game.
In the 88th minute, Gi Krstec set up Bri Austin who let one fly but was denied by the keeper. The rebound went right to Krstec, who punched it in from a difficult angle on the right side to put FAU in front with less than two to play. The clutch goal was her first of the year.
DEFENSE HOLDING STRONG
The Owls’ defense has only allowed one goal over the course of the last three games. FAU keeper Blythe Braun is the only active goalie in Conference USA who has seen action this year and not allowed a goal. Braun owns a pair of shutouts.
