DOMINANT FIRST WIN
The Owls are coming off a resounding 4-0 victory over Detroit Mercy on Sunday, which was the first win of the year. FAU’s offensive outburst resulted in several feats that had not been achieved from FAU in a while, including:
- The four goals were the highest as a team since Nov. 8. 2019, the Conference USA Semifinals against Charlotte
- It marked the first four-goal half since Aug. 25, 2019, when the Owls defeated Grand Canyon 7-1
- Bri Austin and Sofia Voldby each scored a pair for FAU against Detroit Mercy. They mark the first Owls with a multi-goal game since 2021 graduate and current professional footballer Miracle Porter tallied a hat trick against Grand Canyon
- Voldby’s two scores were her first two collegiate goals
- Austin’s two marked her first multi-goal game as an Owl. Her last came when she was a member of Villanova’s squad in 2018
- Hailey Landrus tallied two assists, both on Austin’s goals, for her first multi-assist game of her career
- FAU’s defense and midfield stifled the Detroit Mercy attack, holding the Titans to zero shots on the day. The Owls last allowed no shots in the 1-0 win over Ball State on Sept. 13, 2019
- Blythe Braun picked up the shutout win in net for FAU in her first collegiate game
- Hunter Koziara and Thelma Hermannsdottir each assisted on one of Voldby’s goals
SERIES HISTORY
This is the 19th meeting all-time between FAU and Miami, with the Hurricanes holding a 10-8 lead in the series. In fall 2021, Miami took a 1-0 decision. The Owls last came out on top in the spring 2021 season with a 1-0 win.
