MIAMI MARLINS ACQUIRE INFIELD PROSPECT JORDAN GROSHANS FROM TORONTO FOR RELIEVERS ANTHONY BASS AND ZACH POP

Groshans, who was selected 12th overall in 2018 MLB Draft, was ranked the No. 4 prospect in the Blue Jays’ system and a Top-100 overall prospect by MLB Pipeline

MIAMI – The Miami Marlins today acquired infield prospect Jordan Groshans from the Toronto Blue Jays in exchange for relief pitchers RHP Anthony Bass and RHP Zach Pop.

Groshans, 22, was the 12th selection overall in the 2018 First-Year Player Draft by Toronto out of Magnolia High School in Texas. He is currently ranked the No. 4 top prospect in the Toronto Blue Jays Minor League system by MLB Pipeline. Throughout his career, he has played games at shortstop (82 games), third base (36), first base (5) and right field (4).

The native of Magnolia, Texas, has spent the 2022 season with Triple-A Buffalo, where he has posted a .250 average (60×240) and .644 OPS, with eight doubles, one home run and 24 RBI. For his career, he owns a .283 average, hitting 15 home runs and collecting 120 RBI across 218 games.

Groshans has been promoted to the next level in each of his four seasons with Toronto. Additionally, he was invited to the Blue Jays Major League Spring Training Camp this year, in which he appeared in four games.
