SUNRISE, Fla. – Florida Panthers General Manager Bill Zito announced today that defenseman Evan Nause has agreed to terms on a three-year, entry-level contract.
“Evan is a talented young defenseman who has flourished in his two seasons in junior hockey,” said Zito. “We’re pleased to have him in our system and are looking forward to watching him continue to develop.”
Nause, 19, skated in 59 Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) games with the Quebec Remparts in 2021-22, leading all Remparts blueliners in assists and points (8-38-46). Over 12 QMJHL postseason games, he notched three assists.
The 6-foot-2, 186-pound native of White Rock, B.C. has played in 91 career QMJHL games with the Remparts from 2020-21 to 2021-22, amassing 68 points (12-56-68). He led all QMJHL rookie defensemen with 18 assists and 22 points (4-18-22) over 32 games in his first season with Quebec in 2020-21.
Originally selected by Florida in the second round (56th overall) of the 2021 NHL Draft, Nause skated in 44 games with the Sioux Falls Stampede of the United States Hockey League (USHL) in 2019-20, ranking second among the team’s defensemen with 14 assists and 17 points (3-14-17).
