DETROIT – June 23, 2022 – The Detroit Pistons announced tonight that the team has agreed in principle to acquire the draft rights to Gabriele Procida from the Portland Trail Blazers in exchange for the draft rights to Ismael Kamagate as part of a larger deal that is expected to be finalized after the moratorium ends on July 6.
Selected with the 36th pick out of Italy in tonight’s draft, Procida, 6-7, 194, averaged 7.0 points, 3.0 rebounds and 0.7 assists in 18.5 minutes through 26 games with Fortitudo Kigili Bologna of Lega Serie A in 2021-22. In his last three seasons in Italy with S.Bernardo-Cinelandia Cantu and Fortitudo Kigili Bologna, Procida totaled 6.0 points, 2.5 rebounds and 0.6 assists in 15.5 minutes in 61 career games.
Kamagate, 6-11, 230, tallied clips of 11.3 points, 6.3 rebounds and 1.6 blocks in 27.1 minutes through 34 games with Paris Basket of the LNB Pro A league in France a season ago. He was taken with the 46th pick in the 2022 NBA Draft.
