AAC Golfer of the Year set program records for career scoring average and rounds of par or better
TAMPA, FLA., JUNE 2, 2022 – USF men’s golf standout Albin Bergstrom (Falsterbo, Sweden) earned his fourth career all-region selection when he was named to the NCAA Division I PING All-Southeast Region Team.
The 2022 AAC Golfer of the Year and 2021 AAC Golf Championship individual medalist also earned All-Southeast Region honors in 2019, 2020 and 2021. A two-time PING Honorable mention All-American, Bergstrom has earned three All-Conference honors, was named to the 2019 Division I All-Freshman Team and the AAC Freshman of the Year and is a two-time Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar on his way to a third recognition. He earned his degree from USF this spring in integrated public relations and advertising.
He posted eight top 10 finishes in 2021-22 and set a new program record with 30 rounds of par or better on the season and 86 for his career. His 70.21 stroke average on the year led USF and was just off his own program record of 70.0 set in 2018-19 and gives him the top three season averages in USF history. He led USF to its ninth straight NCAA Regional appearance and just the program’s fourth NCAA Championship berth on the year.
Bergstrom stood No. 27 in the individual GolfStat rankings entering the NCAA Championship, the second-highest ranked player in the state of Florida and the highest in the AAC by 18 spots, and finished his USF career with a new program record for career scoring average, posting a 70.49 over four seasons and 122 rounds to better Chase Koepka’s mark of 71.53.
Bergstrom also owns USF career records for tournament low round (63, 2019-20), tournament low round to par (-9, 2019-20), tournament low 36-hole total (133, -11, 2018-19) and career finish percentage (83.0%) and is second in wins (3) and low 54-hole total (201, -11, 2018-19).

USF men’s golf program has captured 18 conference titles, including in 2021, and have seen players earn 19 All-America honors. The Bulls have won five American Athletic Conference Tournament championships in wire-to-wire fashion, winning four-consecutive from 2015-18. The Bulls have had four individual conference champions, including Albin Bergstrom in 2021, and have earned nine straight NCAA Regional appearances and four NCAA Championship berths, including posting a 6th place finish in NCAA Championship match-play in 2015. USF is led by Steve Bradley, who has been named American Athletic Conference Coach of the Year five times since taking over the program in 2014. The Bulls have posted 20 tournament wins under Bradley entering the 2021-22 season, by far the most under any coach in program history.
