Jaguars Make Roster Moves (5-2-22), Jaguars Extend Offensive Lineman Cam Robinson, and OL Cam Robinson Media Availability

JACKSONVILLE – The Jacksonville Jaguars have agreed to terms with 15 undrafted free agents. Additionally, the team released OL Brandon Murphy and LB Elijah Sullivan.

JACKSONVILLE – The Jacksonville Jaguars have extended OL Cam Robinson, the team announced today.

Robinson, 6-6, 335, has appeared in 61 games during his five-year career with Jacksonville. Last season, Robinson started in 14 games and helped the Jaguars tie for ninth in fewest sacks allowed in the NFL (32).

In 2020, he was part of an offensive line that helped rookie RB James Robinson tally the most scrimmage yards (1,414) and the second-most rushing yards (1,070) by an undrafted rookie in NFL history.

Robinson was originally drafted by Jacksonville in the second round (34th overall) of the 2017 Draft from the University of Alabama. He started 43 games in three seasons in Tuscaloosa and won a College Football Playoff National Championship in 2015.

(On how excited him and his family are about his contract extension) “The hard work is starting to come  fruition and it’s kind of starting to pay off. I am far from where I want to be, but I think for myself as a  player and as a team can take it even higher and continue to build on what we are starting this year. I  am just excited. For my family, it’s hard for me to even put it in words. It’s a blessing and these are the  things that you’ve been working for since you were a kid playing in little league or whenever you started  playing the game. It’s kind of surreal, but it’s definitely an awesome moment for myself and my family.”

(On when he realized that Jacksonville is where he wanted to long term) “I kind of knew the whole time  that this is the place I wanted to be long term if they would have me. It was just kind of thing where you  get with my agent and then have them get with the team and let’s get it worked out. It took a little  while, but ultimately, I kind of figured we would get it done. I knew we were working to the point that  we ended up getting to, so I was just excited when we were able to get to that point.”

(On if there was frustration when he got franchise tagged) “There are kind of two ways to look at a  franchise tag. It’s a blessing and of course if you get a franchise tag, you kind of want to get something  long term done, so that was just the main focus. Of course, I was going to play under the tag. I was never  not going to play under the tag, but I think it was just huge for myself and my party. We definitely  wanted something long term and I think it’s great that we were able to get that done.”

(On feeling encouraged by the direction of the franchise) “Absolutely, with what we were able to do in  the off season and the guys that we were able to bring in. Us bringing in Doug [Pederson] and of course  Trevor [Lawrence], Trevor is awesome. I am just looking forward to Trevor taking that next step and us  starting to build something special.”

(On seeing positivity through all the things he has experienced in Jacksonville and it making him more  mature) “I think you actually used the perfect word, it just matures you. Coming in for my rookie year  and especially coming in from the college level and the university I came in from. Walking into that and  then going straight into [20]17, it seemed like that’s what it would be like that every year. You go from  winning and then we had a great year in 2017 as well. I know the years to follow that were kind of an up  and down roller coaster. I think it just kind of taught me maturity and discipline and how to just keep my  head down and grind my way through it.”

(On his impressions on OL Coach Phil Rauscher) “I love Phil. Phil just feels like one of the guys. When he is in the room, he feels like one of us and he does a lot of great new techniques that he is showing us  things that I haven’t worked in a while. Just getting back into it and just kind of feeling each other out.”

(On if he was confidence that he would return to Jacksonville a month ago) “I was honestly just trying to  stay open minded. The feedback I was getting from the front office here and from my agent, I knew we

wanted to get a deal done. It was just coming to agreement on the terms and conditions and just getting  everything exactly how we thought it should be. It was just a process and I wouldn’t say I never thought I  wouldn’t be a Jaguar, but we kind of had something we wanted to get done. It took a minute, but we  ultimately were able to get it finished.”

(On if this extension gives him more confidence) “My confidence never really waived. That was never  really an issue. It was just kind of we didn’t know if we were going to be able to get it done. Both parties  wanted to get the thing done, so it just took a minute to get things worked out and iron out all the  details.”

(On how it feels to be one of the first Jaguars that they want to keep in Jacksonville) “It feels great. They  kind of wanted to keep guys that could provide great leadership and that they know the guys character.  I think they know my character and they know what I bring on and off the field, so I think that was kind

of essential in getting the deal done. I think that’s ultimately what was one of the major things for  them.”

(On how it is going to feel not having OL Brandon Linder alongside him anymore on the field) “He has  been there since … I am not even going to lie, that one hurt me. When that news came through and me  and him had kind of been talking all off season and I kind of had an idea but when it actually set in and  reality set in, it was tough for me. I am happy for him, but that’s going to be hard to replace. A lot of the  things Brandon brought to the table is irreplaceable. Me myself as a leader, I kind of just want to carry  on the things he taught me and help some of the young guys the same way he did for me when I first got  here.”
