UF WGOLF: Gators Advance to Quarterfinals of SEC Championship

Florida will take on Ole Miss in match play starting at 5:40 p.m. ET on Friday.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Florida women’s golf team advanced to the SEC Championship Quarterfinals on Friday.

The Gators finished T5 and made the cut to advance to the match play portion and will take on 4th place Ole Miss starting at 5:40 p.m. ET. Today’s format was adjusted to a shotgun start and the start of match play due to severe weather expected on the weekend.

UF last reached the quarterfinals in 2019 and fell to Ole Miss 3-2 in a playoff hole. Florida has reached the quarterfinals twice since the conference championship added it and has dropped both outings – 2018 to Arkansas 3-2.

Marina Escobar led the lineup and ended T12 going 1-under on the front, shaving five strokes off her round two score. Two strokes back and notching a team-leading four birdies, Maisie Filler finished T18.

Posting the top score, Clara Manzalini (T45) carded a 72 (E) as her approach on nine set up for to sink one of her three birdies. Annabell Fuller began the day with a birdie and checked in a T30 as Jackie Lucena concluded her first SEC postseason performance in 52nd.
