DAYTONA BEACH,Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University softball team will travel north to Daytona Beach, Florida to face Bethune-Cookman in a non-conference doubleheader on Wednesday, April 13. Game one is set to start at 1:00 p.m.
The doubleheader is the final non-conference games of the year for the Owls. FAU, standing at 21-20 and 9-6 in Conference USA play, has just nine games left in the regular season schedule following Wednesday’s games.
FAU has dominated this head-to-head matchup. In the series history, the Owls are 32-4 against the Wildcats dating back to 1995, FAU’s first year as a program. The last nine meetings have gone in the Owls’ favor. These two teams last met in 2019, when the Owls took a 6-3 decision.
Sara Berthiaume and Cammeo Presutti have been a pair of hot bats in the FAU lineup. In the last six games, Berthiaume is hitting .450 with a home run, eight RBI and two doubles. Her team-leading batting average stands at .387.
Presutti had a big series against Marshall, going 3-for-8 (.375) at the plate with two triples, two RBI and a run scored. The sophomore outfielder recorded triples in back-to-back games this past weekend.
FAU’s middle infield of Sommer Baker and Maya Amm are both hitting .308 (4-for-13) in the last six games. Baker has scored four runs while Amm has scored two. Fellow infielder Myah Murray had a strong series against Marshall, batting .571 (4-for-7) with two RBI and two walks.
The Owls are off this upcoming weekend and will return to the diamond for a three-game conference set at FIU on April 22-24.
