USF SOFTBALL: Corrick Tosses No-Hitter to Break AAC Wins Record as USF Softball Defeats ECU

Corrick earned her 100th career win with her eighth career (seventh solo) no-hitter

GREENVILLE, N.C., April 2, 2022 – University of South Florida softball pitcher Georgina Corrick tossed her second no-hitter of the season to earn her 100th career win in a 6-0 victory over ECU on Saturday afternoon.

Corrick (Sanford, Fla.) passed UCF’s Alea White to become the American Athletic Conference all-time leader in wins with the 100th of her career. She’s just the second pitcher in USF history to reach the 100-win milestone and is only one behind Sara Nevins, who currently holds the program record.

Madison Epperson (Tampa, Fla.) led the Bulls on offense, tallying two doubles in a game for the second time this season. Josie Foreman (West Palm Beach, Fla.) hit her team-leading sixth home run of the season, while Vivian Ponn (Fort Myers, Fla.) also crushed a double in the game.

Epperson started the Bulls off early, doubling home Meghan Sheehan (Forest Hill, Md.) to give USF a 1-0 lead after one. South Florida added to its lead in the second. Dezarae Maldonado (Winter Haven, Fla.) drove home Jordyn Kadlub (Wesley Chapel, Fla.) with a sacrifice fly to push the lead to 2-0.

The Bulls broke the game open further with two runs in the third. Epperson hit her second double of the game to start and scored on Ponn’s double in the next at-bat. Ponn scored immediately after, being pushed home on a single from Foreman.

Foreman kept swinging her hot bat in the sixth, sending a solo shot over the left field fence to expand USF’s lead to five. Alexis Swearingen (West Palm Beach, Fla.) capped the scoring, allowing Alexis Johns (Sarasota, Fla.) to score on a sacrifice fly.
