| BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University baseball team saw its seven-game winning streak halted on Tuesday afternoon with a 12-3 defeat at the hands of North Dakota State. With the start time moved up five hours to avoid the worst of the day’s weather, it was the visiting Bison who responded best to hand the Owls their fifth loss of the season. QUOTABLE Head Coach John McCormack “We didn’t pitch. We didn’t play defense. We didn’t hit. We were not good in anything today. We gave up a few big innings and we couldn’t get out of them. No one could stop the bleeding.” THE BEGINNING It was a positive start for the Owls as Nolan Schanuel teed off for his fourth home run of the season in the bottom of the first. The two-run bomb got some assistance from the wind blowing out and carried over the fence in centerfield to give FAU an early 2-0 lead. THE TURNING POINT North Dakota State had a 4-2 lead before busting the game wide open with four runs on three hits in the top of the seventh. The Owl defense committed two errors in the inning and the bullpen allowed three walks. The Bison would pick up four more runs in the ninth to remove any doubt about the outcome.
