FAU (19-14) and Northern Colorado (20-15) have never met on the hardwood. The Bears were the runners-up in the Big Sky Conference Championship tournament, while FAU reached the quarterfinals of the Conference USA Championship tournament before being eliminated by eventual tournament champion UAB.
The Owls’ berth in the CBI is the fourth postseason tournament in FAU men’s basketball history. FAU has played once in the NCAA Tournament (2002), once in the NIT (2011) and once in the CIT (2018).
The winner of the Owls-Bears matchup will advance to face the winner of the No. 4-seeded Stephen F. Austin vs. No. 13-seeded UNC-Asheville matchup. That CBI quarterfinal matchup will be played Monday, March 21 at 3:30 p.m.
