UAB WBB Finishes Regular Season with 82-56 Setback to LA Tech

RUSTON, La.  – The UAB women’s basketball team fell to Louisiana Tech 82-56 in the regular season finale on Saturday afternoon.

Zakyia Weathersby recorded her 21st double-double of the season with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Emily Klaczek and Maria Roters each added 10 points for the Blazers (15-14, 8-10 C-USA).

LA Tech (19-10, 11-8 C-USA) was led by Keiunna Walker’s 20 points and eight assists. Anna Lar Roberson’s scored 19 and Lotte Sant 12 for the Lady Techsters.  

The only lead the Blazers held was 2-0 when Weathersby got the opening basket 15 seconds into the game.

Amaya Brannon’s 3-pointer at 7:33 of the 2nd quarter gave LA Tech its first double-digit lead of the game at 25-15. They would stretch their advantage to 25 points at 44-19 with 48 seconds remaining until halftime.

UAB outscored LA Tech 17-12 in the 3rd quarter and would get the deficit down to 15 points with 5:41 remaining in the game.

Up next will be the 2022 Conference USA Championships which begin on March 8 at The Star in Frisco, Texas. Seedings will be announced by the league at the conclusion of Saturday’s games.
