Tonight’s Hero Among Us is United States Marine Corps veteran Efrain Torres. Efrain served in the Marine Corps from 1983-2003 which included deployments to the Middle East during Desert Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom. Panthers Captain Aleksander Barkov logged two points (1-1-2) Jan. 27 at SEA. His goal came shorthanded, his fourth of the season, and marked his 200th NHL goal and 500th NHL point. Florida’s franchise leader in goals scored became the first Panthers skater to reach 200 goals and the second to reach 500 points, following Jonathan Huberdeau. Surpassing the 500-point mark in his 560th NHL game, Barkov became the fourth-fastest Finnishborn player to record 500 NHL points, following Jari Kurri (356 GP), Teemu Selanne (384 GP), and Tomas Sandstrom (501 GP). Barkov’s assist Jan. 23 at SEA marked the 300th helper of his career, becoming the second Panthers skater in club history to reach the mark. His 19 goals (19-17-36) this season rank second on Florida, and his five power-play goals are tied with Sam Bennett for most on the club. The native of Tampere, Finland has posted at least one point in 24 of his 31 games this season.
EK’S GON’ GIVE IT TO YA
Aaron Ekblad notched two assists for the second consecutive game Jan. 25 at WPG, for his team-leading eighth multi-assist performance this season.
He has produced multiple points in five of his last 11 games (1-12-13). His +27 rating this season ranks tied for second among league defensemen. The
Windsor, Ontario native ranks third among league blueliners in goals (10) and owns the fifth-most points (10-29-39) among NHL defensemen.
He notched three assists (0-3-3) Jan. 15 vs. CBJ, his fifth three-point outing of the season, matching Brian Campbell (5, 2011-12) for most three-point
performances in a season in club history.
BENNY AND THE CATS
Sam Bennett registered his fourth multi-goal game of the season Jan. 27 vs. VGK (2-0-2). The tallies marked his team-leading 19th and 20th goals of the season, surpassing his previous career high of 18 goals (2015-16). Bennett has scored at least one goal in seven of his past nine games (10-3-13).
His four-game goal streak Jan. 14-20 was the longest by a Panthers skater this season, and he is tied for the club lead with 5 power-play goals.
FINNISH PHENOM
Anton Lundell notched an assist for the second consecutive game Jan. 27 vs. VGK, producing three points (1-2-3) over his past two games. His 27 points (10-17-27) this season are tied with Jonathan Huberdeau (13-14-27, 2012-13) for most points by a Florida rookie through their first 40 games in club history. Lundell tallied his 10th goal of the season Jan. 25 at WPG, becoming the first Panthers rookie to tally at least 10 goals since Aaron Ekblad (12, 2014-15). With eight points (3-5-8) over his past nine games, Lundell ranks tied for third among league rookies points and fourth in goals. All 10 of Lundell’s goals have come at even strength, the second-most EVG among NHL rookies. The native of Espoo, Finland leads all NHL forwards with 45 takeaways.
THE DUKE OF SOUTH FLORIDA
Anthony Duclair’s 18 goals (18-16-34) rank third on Florida. 15 of his 18 goals have come at even strength, tied for the most on Florida this season.
Duclair has amassed nine points (4-5-9) over his past eight contests. His +26 rating is fourth-highest among NHL forwards. His +6 rating against DAL on Jan. 14 tied a club record for highest plus-minus rating in one game. The native of Point-Claire, QC has amassed 66 points (28-38-66) over 79 career games with Florida.
HOME IS WHERE THE ‘HART IS
Sam Reinhart has posted six points (1-5-6) over his past five games. Reinhart matched his career high with three assists (0-3-3) Jan. 20 at EDM, his third three-assist outing of his career and his second this season with Florida. His seven multi-assist games this season are tied for the second-most on Florida. He recorded three points (2-1-3) Jan. 11 vs. VAN, his first multi-goal game for FLA. The West Vancouver, BC native has produced 14 points (2-12-14) over his past 11 contests. Reinhart’s 11 power-play points this season rank third on Florida.
MARCH OF THE PANTHERS
Mason Marchment scored a goal for the second consecutive game Jan. 27 vs. VGK and led Florida with seven hits. He recorded a career high three points (2-1-3) and six shots on goal Jan. 25 at WPG, his first career multi-goal game. His five goals and 10 assists (5-10-15) this season are both career highs, and he has registered 46 hits over 19 games played in 2021-22.

Carter Verhaeghe scored his 15th goal of the season Jan. 25 at WPG. He has produced five goals (5-1-6) over his past eight games. Verhaeghe notched his 19th assist of the season Jan. 18 at CGY, surpassing his previous career high of 18 helpers from last season. Verhaeghe logged his third two-goal game (2-0-2) of the season and registered a career-high eight shots on goal Jan. 15 vs. CBJ. All 15 of Verhaeghe’s goals this season have come at even strength, tied for the most even-strength tallies on the club.

Sergei Bobrovsky made 32 saves Jan. 25 at WPG to earn his 21st win of the season (21-4-3). His 21 wins are the most by a Florida goaltender through their first 30 appearances of a season in club history. Bobrovsky stopped all 40 EDM shots Jan. 20 for his 35th career shutout. Bobrovsky’s nine-game point streak (8-0-1) from Dec. 29-Jan. 23 marked the third instance of a FLA goaltender earning at least one point over nine consecutive appearances.
RETURN OF THE MACK
MacKenzie Weegar has logged 25 points (3-22-25) over 44 games this season. He leads Florida with 94 blocked shots and 57 takeaways, ranking second on the team with 114 hits. Weegar matched his career high with 4 points (1-3-4) Jan. 15 vs. CBJ, becoming the 2nd defenseman in club history to record multiple 4-point games, joining Bryan McCabe. Weegar’s goal came shorthanded, the first of his career, and marked his 100th NHL point, becoming the 11th defenseman in franchise history to surpass the 100-point mark.
