Biondi will be exempt into the final stages of qualifying for The Open and the U.S. Open Championship.
Casa de Campo, Dominican Republic – Fred Biondi finished runner-up at the 2022 Latin America Championship on Sunday.
After a 35 (-1) on the front nine on the final day, he carried a two-stroke lead at 8-under at the turn. Aaron Jarvis (UNLV/Cayman Islands) responded with a 33 (-3) on the back nine to edge Biondi by one-stroke at 7-under.
With the performance, Biondi will be exempt into the final stages of qualifying for The Open and the U.S. Open Championship. He finished in a four-way tie for second at -6 with Santiago De La Fuente, Mateo Fernandez de Oliveira and Vicente Marzilio.
In his fourth consecutive appearance at the tournament, his 65 (-7) in round three on moving day tied the tournament course record and moved him into second on the final day, jumping 14 spots.
Florida now is home of two runners-up at the Latin Am, as Alejandro Tosti was the runner-up in the inaugural tournament in his freshman season after shooting 69-70-68-71 in 2015.
