MIAMI (January 10, 2022) – Inter Miami CF has acquired the No. 1 spot in the Major League Soccer (MLS) Allocation Ranking from Charlotte FC. In exchange, Inter Miami has traded its No. 9 spot in the Allocation Ranking and defender Christian Makoun. Inter Miami will retain a percentage of a future transfer of Makoun.
The Allocation Process is the mechanism used to determine which club has first priority to acquire a player listed on the Allocation Ranking List. This list will consist of select U.S. Men’s National Team players, select youth U.S. National Team players, and/or former MLS players returning to MLS after joining a non-MLS club for an outgoing transfer fee of $500,000 or more. The Allocation Ranking Order is set by taking the reverse order of the club’s standings at the end of each MLS season, taking playoff performance into account, with the new expansion clubs at the top of the order. The rankings reset at the end of each League season.

Makoun joined Inter Miami in August 2019 as the club’s third-ever signing. The Venezuelan went on to make 30 appearances, 25 of them starts, registering two goals.

El orden del Ranking de Adjudicación se establece por medio de tomar en cuenta el orden inverso de los clubes en la tabla al finalizar cada temporada de la MLS, tomando en cuenta el rendimiento en la postemporada también, con los clubes de expansión siendo los primeros en ese orden. El orden del ranking se reinicia al finalizar cada temporada de Liga.
