ITA All-Academic Team/Scholar-Athletes
Tempe, Ariz. – Lynn University’s men’s tennis team demonstrated its academic prowess by earning Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-Academic Team honors this week along with six ITA Scholar-Athlete awards.
This year the ITA saw an increase in qualifying teams and scholar-athletes. All-Academic honors were awarded to 940 teams and thousands of scholar-athletes across all five divisions.
The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale). All varsity letter winners should be factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year (including fall 2018 and spring 2019).
This was the sixth consecutive year the Blue and White had at least five individuals named ITA Scholar-Athletes.
Alexandre Pichon and Kay Bartmann lead the way with their third consecutive Scholar-Athlete awards. William Ljungstrom claims the honor for the second straight year while newcomers Lucca Baptista, Diego Valant and Ryan Neale also secure recognition.
In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status a player must meet the following criteria: 1.) be a varsity letter winner, 2.) have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year, and 3.) have been enrolled at their present school for at least 2 semesters (including freshman through senior year).
