BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University women’s basketball team (3-4) will wrap up its first out-of-state trip of the season with a Sunday matinee matchup at Boise State (1-5). FAU is coming off its first road win of the season and will look to head back to South Florida with back-to-back wins away from home.
ABOUT THE OWLS
- FAU women’s basketball is under a new direction of first-year head coach Jennifer Sullivan, who is a 16-year coaching veteran and the sixth head coach in program history
- The Owls broke their four-game losing streak with a 63-45 road win at Kennesaw State. FAU was previously getting off three straight heartbreaking losses
- Sofia Galeron will be returning back to Boise after spending her first two collegiate seasons with the Broncos
- The team brings back nine student-athletes from the 2020-21 squad, all of whom have seen time on a collegiate court
- Amber Gaston leads the Owls in scoring with 14.1 points per game along with 6.6 boards per game. She boasts a team’s best .603 field goal percentage (35-58), which is among the top in the NCAA
- Janeta Rozentale pulls down a team’s most 9.0 rebounds per game
- Kynadi Kuykendoll logs 3.14 assists per game with her 22 total dimes leading the team
- FAU has four Owls averaging double digits in scoring after six games (Gaston, Alexa Zaph, Rita Pleskevich and Rozentale)
- The Owls lead Conference USA in free throw makes (123)
LAST TIME OUT
- FAU snapped a four-game losing skid and picked up its first road win of the season following a 63-45 feat at Kennesaw State
- Zaph led FAU with 17 points while shooting 3-for-3 from beyond the arc and 4-for-4 from the free throw line
- Rozentale matched a career-high 13 rebounds while also tallying nine points and three blocks
- Gaston extended her double-digit scoring streak to seven games after scoring 13 points, pulling down six rebounds and logging three steals
- The FAU Owls registered a season-high seven blocks on Thursday
SCOUTING BOISE STATE
- BSU was projected to finish sixth in the Mountain West after receiving 166 votes, as voted on by the league’s head coaches
- Last season, Abby Muse was named to the MWC All-Freshman Team
- Elodie Lalotte leads the Broncos with 10.3 points per game as well as 6.8 boards per game
- Mary Kay Naro boasts a team’s most 24 assists, which averages out to 4.0 APG. She also has a team’s most blocks (7) and steals (8)

- Sunday’s matinee matchup marks the first time these two programs will play against one another
