All four Gators competing at North Florida posted a singles victory on day two of the tournament.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Florida women’s tennis posted a perfect 4-0 mark in singles competition on day two of the North Florida Invitational to continue an impressive stay in Jacksonville.
No. 84 in the ITA women’s singles preseason poll, Emma Shelton provided the first singles victory on the court for the Gators. She defeated Vic Allen of Florida State 4-6, 7-5 and was leading 2-1 prior to Allen having to retire due to injury.
Freshman Alicia Dudeny earned her second victory of the tournament over Central Florida’s Nandini Sharma, 6-2, 6-4. Sara Dahlstrom remained perfect on the season in singles competition, picking up her second win with a 6-0, 6-3 victory over Alexandria Mjos of South Florida.
After falling in the opening match of the invitational on Friday, Bente Spee bounced-back with a hard-fought three-set victory over Charlotte’s Kaavya Sawhney (6-7(5), 6-1, 6-1).
The Gators will conclude their stay in Jacksonville on Sunday with the final day of the UNF Invitational.
