BIRMINGHAM – UAB’s Stella Kiss, Lexxe Lipsey, Kendall Page, Laura Zemberyova and Asha Zuniga have been named to Conference USA All-Conference Teams, the league office announced on Monday.
Lipsey and Zemberyova were named to the Second Team. Kiss and Zuniga were named to the Third Team while Page was named to the All-Freshman Team.
“We are all extremely happy for all of our players that were noticed and received these awards from our conference,” said head coach Erica Demers. “Each player is a special component to our team. Congratulations to them all!”
Earning her second straight conference honor, Lipsey finished the regular season tied for third on the team with seven points. She was also named to the All-Academic Team last week.
Zemberyova earns her second conference honor as she was named to the All-Freshman Team last season. She led the team with nine points and two game-winners, despite missing four matches while competing for the Slovakian National team in the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup qualification. Zemberyova was named C-USA Offensive Player of the Week twice this season.
Kiss also earns her second conference honor. She is tied for third on the team with seven points and was also named to the All-Academic Team last week. Kiss has started all 17 matches and scored the game-winner against Kennesaw State.
“Laura, Lex and Stella and all the talented players in the attacking third for us have worked tirelessly to create opportunities not only for themselves but their teammates all season,” said Demers.
The team’s leader in goals with four, Zuniga earns her first conference honor. She was named C-USA Defensive Player of the Week on Oct. 19 after leading UAB to wins over North Texas and Middle Tennessee. She netted the game-winner against LA Tech.
“We are all extremely happy for Asha. “This is her first full season of moving into the center back position from being a true forward and her growth has just started.”
Page has started 16 of the 17 matches, the most of any UAB freshman since 2017. She set up Zuniga’s game-winner against LA Tech. Page was third on the team logging 1,414 total minutes.
“KP has been phenomenal from day one. She is a natural two-way midfielder and we are looking forward to her growth within our program,” added Demers.
The 2021 Conference USA Championship begins for UAB on Wednesday afternoon. The Blazers, the No. 3 West seed, take on WKU, the No. 2 East seed at 3:30 p.m.
