FIU FB News: FIU Travels to West Virginia for Showdown with Marshall

MIAMI – (Oct. 27, 2021) – After a two game homestand, the FIU football heads north for a Conference USA clash with Marshall on October 30. Kickoff from Joan C. Edwards Stadium is slated for 3:30 pm ET.

AMONG THE BEST
Quarterback Max Bortenschlager enters the conference match up ranked in the top 50 in eight different statistical categories including being first in the nation for passing yards per completion. The senior’s 18.59 yards ranks atop the standings with Coastal Carolina’s Grayson McCall following the Panther quarterback with 17.34 yards. Also pacing the nation is wide receiver Tyrese Chambers, whose 29.71 yards per reception ranks first in the country.

LAST TIME OUT
The FIU football team raced out to an early 12-7 advantage in the second quarter, before falling by a 34-19 margin to WKU on Saturday night at FIU Stadium.
 
Randall St. Felix paced the Panthers’ offense with five receptions for 104 yards, including a 75-yard touchdown grab. The total receptions, yardage total and long catch of 75 yards all represented career-best efforts for the wide receiver.
 
Senior running back D’vonte Price added 86 rushing yards on 15 carries.

SCOUTING THE HERD
The Thundering Herd of Marshall enter Saturday’s match up with a 4-3 overall record and are 2-1 in C-USA play.

Marshall ranks eighth nationally in total offen­sive averaging 510.1 yards per game. A good chuck of that yardage comes through the air as the Thundering Herd ranks sixth nationally averaging 352.7 yards in the air.

Marshall is coming off back-to-back wins over C-USA foes Old Dominion and North Texas.
