JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS VS. TENNESSEE TITANS – SUNDAY, OCT. 10
Fans are invited to TIAA Bank Field this Sunday, Oct. 10 as the Jacksonville Jaguars host the Tennessee Titans in their first and only home game at TIAA Bank Field in the month of October. The divisional matchup kicks off at 1 p.m. and will be broadcast regionally on CBS and on radio on WJXL (1010AM, 92.5 FM) and in Spanish on 930AM/97.3FM via Accion. This week’s game is sponsored by Baptist Health. The Jaguars will also recognize the NFL’s Crucial Catch initiative which seeks to fight cancer through early detection and risk reduction.
CRUCIAL CATCH
Since its establishment in 2009, the NFL’s Crucial Catch campaign has raised more than $23 million for the American Cancer Society. Money raised supports the American Cancer Society’s Community Health Advocates implementing Nationwide Grants for Empowerment and Equity (CHANGE) program. CHANGE promotes health equity and addresses early detection disparities through community-based prevention programs that increase access to cancer screenings. Today, healthcare centers in all 32 NFL club markets receive CHANGE grants to provide outreach and education and increased access to cancer screenings and to potentially life-saving resources.
Fans will see the official multi-colored logo around TIAA Bank Field and on helmet decals, cleats, towels, sideline caps and other equipment. The Jaguars will salute cancer survivors, those still battling and the health care workers who care for them throughout Sunday’s game. Crucial Catch gaiters courtesy of Baptist Health will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
FIRST DUUUVAL
The First DUUVAL will be delivered by Steve “Telly” Tellefsen. Tellefsen is a cancer survivor and close friend of Jaguars captain and OL Brandon Linder. Tellefsen also played football at both the collegiate and NFL levels. At the start of the 2021 season, Tellefsen delivered the news to Linder that he was named team captain during a team meeting.
PREGAME PATRIOTISM
The Star Spangled Banner will be performed by Matthew Johnson. Johnson, 28, was raised in Jacksonville and is a recording artist that appeared on Season 16 of NBC’s The Voice. Since the show, Johnson has released his debut single “Used” which is available to download and stream on all digital platforms. He is currently recording and preparing to release his first studio album.
Both the American flag and cancer awareness ribbon will be held by front-line workers, patients and caregivers of Baptist MD Anderson Cancer Center located in downtown Jacksonville.
The flyover will be executed by The Affordable Warbirds flying a total of six World War II-era planes trailing smoke high above TIAA Bank Field. Affordable Warbird, LLC was formed in 2006 by Hank Gibson, a former U.S. Navy Aviator, Gulf War veteran, Gulfstream demo pilot and corporate pilot. His aircraft is based at Herlong Recreational Airport in Jacksonville.
HALFTIME ENTERTAINMENT
The halftime show will feature the Patriots Parachute Team (PPT), a veteran-owned and operated company that has performed across the United States at various shows and events. The PPT works to raise awareness for veteran causes such as transitioning to civilian life after active duty. Fans can look to the skies as four jumpers will descend with an American flag, a Jaguars flag and a custom-made flag honoring the NFL’s Crucial Catch campaign. Each will trail pink smoke in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
