BIRMINGHAM – The UAB women’s soccer team continues Conference USA play on Friday night when it hosts WKU at BBVA Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
UAB LATELY
UAB is coming off a 1-0 setback at Old Dominion on Sunday. The Blazers opened C-USA play with a 2-0 victory over LA Tech on Sept.16. Asha Zuniga and Lexxe Lipsey each scored for the Blazers while Anika Toth earned a clean sheet by making three stops.
WKU LATELY
The Lady Toppers began C-USA with a pair of wins over Marshall and Middle Tennessee, both by the score of 2-1. WKU is ranked No. 6 in the South Region in the latest United Soccer Coaches poll and has a NCAA RPI of 22.
THE SERIES VS. WKU
The teams have met seven times, with WKU holding a slight 4-2-1 advantage. UAB leads the series in Birmingham 2-0-1. The two teams met in last season’s C-USA Championship quarterfinals, with the Lady Toppers taking the match 1-0.
COMMON OPPONENTS
The teams have three common opponents this season – Old Dominion, Rice and UTEP.
PROMOTIONS
Friday will be Youth Night. Fans 17 and under wearing a school or club shirt or jersey receive free admission to the contest.

The Blazers hit the road for the next two matches, facing Southern Miss on Oct. 1 and No. 24 Rice Oct. 8. UAB returns home on Oct. 15 to host North Texas for the annual Bark in the Park night.
