USF Returns Home to Kick Off Three-Match Homestand Against Stetson on Friday

The Bulls face the Hatters on Salute to Service/First Responders Night at Corbett Stadium

TAMPA (Sept. 9, 2021) – The University of South Florida men’s soccer team returns home to Corbett Stadium to start a three-match home stretch on Friday at Corbett Stadium against in-state foe Stetson. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. The Green and Gold are 1-2-1 on the year while Stetson is 0-2-2.

Friday night will be Salute to Service/First Responders Night where all active-duty military, veterans, first responders, and health care workers will receive free admission.

THE SERIES VS. STETSON

– USF and Stetson will meet for the first time since the 3-1 win by the Bulls on Sept. 25, 2018 … The Bulls lead in the all-time series, 27-4-1 … USF holds a ten-game win streak and has a 19-2-1 home record against the Hatters.

–  The Bulls have won seven straight matches, against the Hatters, and 10 of their last 11, and are unbeaten in their last 11 matches.

A LOOK AT THE HATTERS

– Stetson is coming off a 2-2 tie with Campbell University on Sunday night.

– The Hatters came from behind from a 2-1 deficit against Campbell, scoring two of the last three goals, including the equalizer with under a minute left in regulation … The Camels held the advantage in shots, 18-15, while the shots on goal were even with seven apiece.

A LOOK AHEAD

– Following Friday’s match, against Stetson, the Bulls face North Florida on Tuesday, Sept. 14, on International Night … Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m.

– USF will close out its three-match homestand when they face Tulsa on Sept. 18, at 12 p.m. … The Tulsa match will have free admission … the Bulls hit the road again to play SMU in Dallas, Texas, on Sept. 24, 8 p.m. ET.

CORBETT ATTENDANCE POLICY

– For the first time since Nov. 9, 2019, Corbett Stadium will return to full-capacity seating for fans, a stretch of 647-days entering USF’s season-opening match against Jacksonville on Aug. 26.

USF Men’s Soccer competed in the school’s first ever intercollegiate athletic contest on Sept. 25, 1965, beating Florida Southern 4-3. Since then, the oldest program on campus has built a winning tradition, claiming 14 conference championships and making 21 NCAA Tournament appearances, including 3 trips to the elite eight.

Also, Oscar Resano and Brian Schaefer were named to the American Athletic Conference All-Rookie Team. Head coach Bob Butehorn returns to lead USF in his fifth season on the sidelines.
