BIRMINGHAM –The UAB women’s soccer team returns to BBVA Field when it hosts Mercer on Sunday afternoon. The match, which has a 2:30 start time, will be played between the two Soccer for a Cure men’s matches that start at 11:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
THE SERIES VS. MERCER
The Blazers and Bears have met a total of seven times, with UAB holding a 4-1-1 advantage. The two schools played twice last season with the Blazers coming out on top in both matches. UAB has won both matches played in Birmingham.
SCOUTING MERCER
Mercer scored seven times in the 1st half in its 10-0 victory over Mississippi Valley State on Thursday night. Mackenzie Gassie scored a hat trick and added an assist in the win. Gassie leads the team with seven points. Keeper Jordyn Ebert has a goals against average of 0.75 and a pair of clean sheets on the year.
COMMON OPPONENTS
The teams have four common opponents this season – Auburn, Chattanooga, Kennesaw State and Samford.
