BIRMINGHAM –After playing its first three matches on the road, the UAB women’s soccer team has its home opener on Sunday against Arizona State. Kickoff is scheduled for noon at BBVA Field.
THE SERIES VS. ARIZONA STATE
Sunday’s match will be the first time the Blazers and Sun Devils have met.
SCOUTING ARIZONA STATE
ASU is 3-0-0 on the season. In its last match, Nicole Douglas scored her third goal of the season in the 89th minute to break a scoreless tie and give the Sun Devils a 1-0 victory at Mississippi State on Thursday.
COMMON OPPONENTS
The teams have one common opponent this season – Mississippi State. Note UAB’s match against the Bulldogs was an exhibition match.
UAB VS. PAC-12
This marks the first match between UAB and a PAC-12 school.
DID YOU KNOW?
ASU head coach Graham Winkworth has coached against UAB three times in his career. Winkworth went up against the Blazers in 2013, 2014 and 2016 when he was head coach at South Alabama. He is 1-2-0 against the Blazers, with the lone win coming in 2016 in Mobile.
