BOCA RATON, Fla. – A football concept and a player’s longevity can be determined by his ability to adjust to sudden change. On Tuesday, the Owls changed locations, shifting back to the Schmidt Family Center, a place the players have called home since January of 2020. The Owls also moved back to morning practices after practicing for the first time in the afternoon on Monday.
Not a hiccup, setback or delay could be seen by the way the veteran-laden team went to work on Tuesday, and all is in an effort to prepare for this weekend’s scrimmage, the first of fall camp.
MEET THE PLAYERS
Redshirt junior tight end Austin Evans
On camp thus far:
Camp has been going great from my perspective. We have really had the opportunity to show the coaches how much we have progressed in the offseason. How much stronger we have gotten. How much faster we have gotten and working on our technique as well as installing our plays and working on cutting down our missed assignments. Every day, for the tight ends especially, this week we are working on cutting down our MA and getting better at our execution.
What are you looking for this weekend with the tight ends?
Heading into the scrimmage, we are really working on eliminating the MA’s. The tight ends have a big role on the team. We are almost like the second quarterback, so we really want to cut down on that, as well as know every position and every assignment for every play so that it will help our teammates make the right calls and cut down on penalties as well.
