Palm Beach Schools Superintendent to resign

Palm Beach County Schools Superintendent Donald Fennoy has announced that he will resign from his position. He has served as superintendent for three years. His last day will be October 11.

He began with some successes but began to struggle with some controversies. One controversy involved when to reopen schools during the pandemic and another involved whether the district should pledge to fight white advantage. He was criticized by the School Board during his evaluation and some members wanted to put him on a a performance review. Fennoy earns about $306,000 annually in his position.

In his resignation letter he wrote, “I am incredibly proud of the work that we have accomplished as a team over the last five years in our mutual and ongoing commitment to ensuring academic excellence for our students. The past 15 months, in particular, have presented challenge, but because of our resilient and dedicated staff, we have turned challenges into opportunities for growth.”
