Two pari-mutuels filed the first federal lawsuits against Florida’s gambling deal with the Seminole Tribe of Florida. It was filed by the owners of Magic City Casino in Miami and Bonita Springs Poker Room. It argues that the sports betting deal violates the federal Indian Gaming Regulatory Act because it allows Florida residents to place bets on sports games when in Florida on phones and computers. The lawsuit also says that pari-mutuels that are unable of choose not to enter into a marketing agreement with the Seminole Tribe are shut out of sports betting on tribal lands. The lawsuit argues that the agreement is attempting to circumvent federal law by allowing Florida residents to place sports bets without having to be on tribal land. The agreement says that the servers that place the sports bets are on tribal land.
