FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Fifth-year Nova Southeastern women’s tennis head coach Doug Neagle has announced another pair of new Sharks for the 2021-22 season, with the addition of incoming freshmen Mille Langaas and Eva Goncharov to next year’s roster.
“I can’t wait to start working with these two young ladies,” Neagle said of the newest Sharks. “Both of them have been living away from home the last year or two, training and going to school, helping them to be prepared for college tennis and the busy schedule that comes with it. Eva and Mille seem to love the training and competition with tennis, so I’m confident they’ll bring great positive energy to the program.”
Mille Langaas joins the Sharks from Oslo, Norway after attending the Rafa Nadal International School in Spain. Earning an 8.03 Universal Tennis Rating (UTR), her team placed second in the Norwegian Elite Team Championships in Summer 2020. Langaas is the highest-ranking 18 and under player in Norway. Langaas is fresh off a February 27 J4 La Libertad doubles tournament victory in El Salvador and ranks 1218 with the International Tennis Foundation (ITF).
Coming to NSU from Toronto, Ontario and St. Theresa of Lisieux High School in Richmond Hill, Canada, Eva Goncharov ranked 60th nationally in Canada and 30th in Ontario. She’s earned a UTR of 8.90 and has ranked as high as 1275 with the ITF. Goncharov has earned an Ontario U16 Doubles Championship and has earned eight Provincial Championship Singles Titles.
The new new freshmen combine with transfers Nika Kozar (Virginia Tech) and Zala Dovnik (Purdue) to mark a four-Shark incoming class for the 2021-22 school year. The Sharks completed a shortened 2021 season with a 9-3 record and a second-consecutive NCAA Regional appearance, ranking as high as No. 3 this season.
