DETROIT – The Detroit Tigers today announced that they have claimed righthanded pitcher Austin Adams off waivers from the Minnesota Twins.
Adams, 32, has spent most of the 2019 season with Triple A Rochester, appearing in 11 games, including one start, and posting a 1-1 record with a 4.50 ERA (18.0IP/9ER) and 28 strikeouts. He has also made two relief outings with the Twins this season.
Adams, who was originally drafted by the Cleveland Indians in the fifth round of the 2009 MLB First-Year Player Draft, has made 225 career appearances, including 50 starts, at the Minor League level, compiling a 34-28 record with 25 saves, a 3.33 ERA (475.2IP/176ER) and 191 strikeouts. He has also made 55 appearances in the Majors and has a 2-0 record with one save, a 6.75 ERA (61.1IP/46ER) and 49 strikeouts.
With the waiver claim of Adams, the Tigers 40-man roster is now at 40.
