FAU Men’s Basketball Signs Two

BOCA RATON, Fla. – (May 21, 2019)  Florida Atlantic University head men’s basketball coach Dusty May has signed two student-athletes in his latest recruiting class. The class includes a freshman and a graduate transfer.

“We are truly excited to welcome Cornelius Taylor and D.J. Robertson to the Florida Atlantic family,” May said. “Our goal in recruiting is to bring in young men who can excel both on and off the court, and we expect these two to do just that. We feel that both Cornelius and D.J. are also great fits with our fall signees and should complement them perfectly.”

Cornelius Taylor, a six-foot guard, was a three-time All-South Atlantic Conference selection while at Division II powerhouse Lincoln Memorial University. Taylor averaged 13.7 points per game in three seasons as a Railsplitter, including an appearance in the national semifinals as a redshirt freshman.

“We’re thrilled to add Cornelius to our program. He is a proven winner who will be able to provide leadership from day one,” commented May. “He is a versatile guard who has won 82 games over the past three seasons at one of the premier Division II programs in the country.”

D.J. Robertson is a 6-1 guard who graduated from Athens Drive High School in Raleigh, North Carolina, where he averaged 22.8 points, 4.2 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.8 steals per game as a senior. He led the Jaguars to a regular season conference title and was named to the North Carolina Basketball Coaches Association All-District team.

“We couldn’t be more excited to round out our incoming signing class with the addition of D.J.,” May stated. “He is an aggressive, playmaking guard that is extremely fast in the open court. He is also the type of player that has elite ball-handling skills and makes everyone on the court better.”
