D2CCA All-Region

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Lynn University baseball’s Alejandro Martinez capped his stellar senior campaign with a First Team All-South Region nod from the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) as a utility position player.

Playing both first base and catcher for the Blue and White, the Tampa, Fla. native appeared in 46 of Lynn’s 48 games, batting .315 with a team-high 10 homers and 41 RBI. Martinez also racked up 13 doubles to add to his 10 long balls, ranking seventh and sixth in the SSC, respectively.

Martinez’ .315 batting average is an improvement of over .050 points from last season when he batted .261. This is the second straight year Lynn has earned a D2CCA First Team All-South Region nod and the 13th straight season that the Fighting Knights have notched at least one D2CCA All-South Region selection.

The SSC swept the major All-South Region nods with Yorvis Torrealba from Tampa winning Player of the Year and Eckerd’s Dylan MuCullough honored as Pitcher of the Year, mirroring the SSC All-Conference Awards from earlier this week. Barry’s Chris Cabrera finished just behind Martinez, earning Second Team honors as a utility player. In total, 18 players from the SSC were honored by the D2CCA.
