Weather conditions prevailed over the first round in Augusta.
AUGUSTA, Ga. – The first day of the Augusta National Women’s Amateur has come to a close when officials decided to suspend play at 4:52 p.m. ET due to inclement weather.
Annabell Fuller, who kicked things off for the Gators with an 11:00 a.m. ET tee time, was able to finish her round before weather interfered. Addie Baggarly, who didn’t hit the course until 12:06 p.m. ET had the tough conditions of the weather ultimately end her round early. Baggarly made it through 14 holes before Mother Nature had her way.
Fuller recorded an even scorecard through her first round, a feat that lands her in a tie for 7th in an elite field. The sophomore played one of the steadiest rounds in the field, bogeying her first hole before settling into the front nine and recording two birdies to finish 1-under at the turn. As weather conditions started to pick up, Fuller maintained her even-keeled approach to the greens. The England native posted three bogeys against two birdies over the back-nine to finish even and solidly in the top ten heading into the second round.
Addie Baggarly began her round an hour after Fuller, facing the brunt of weather that ended up finishing her day early. The senior posted a 7-over par score through her 14 holes and will return to the course tomorrow morning to complete the last four holes before setting her sights on the second round.
Baggarly will tee it up on the 15th hole tomorrow at 7:45 a.m. ET while Fuller will begin her second round at 11:00 a.m. ET. Baggarly is scheduled to begin her second round at 12:06 p.m. ET, as previously scheduled.
