BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic University’s football team switched up days and elected to practice Thursday morning rather than on Wednesday as previously announced. While the days of the week were different, the effort and prescribed tasks/goals were similar.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Jefftey Joseph pulled down multiple passes from multiple quarterbacks for long gains
- Nick Tronti hit Je’Quan Burton for a score
- Willie Taggart Jr. ran one in from two yards out
- Kelvin Dean Jr. had a long run
- Diashun Moss recorded a tackle for a loss, which also prevented a score
- The defense, who won the day, also prevented Ford from finding the end zone
- O-line received praise for a big push and protection for Malcolm Davidson’s score
- From two yards out, Zuberi Mobley carried one in
SPEED ZONE
Something new to the Owls’ practice is announcing players to break 20 mph. Players wear a vest, that among other things, measures their speeds throughout the day. The moment a player hits the speed of 20 mph, a horn sounds and the strength coaches drop and do a regiment of pushups. On Thursday, Je’Quan Burton, Brandon Robinson, Justin McKithen and Johnny Ford clocked in above the speed zone.
