BOCA RATON, Fla. – (May 6, 2019) – The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) named two Florida Atlantic University beach volleyball tandems as recipients of its Top Flight Award. Sophomores Erica Brok and Mackenzie Morris and senior duo Amanda Silva and Nicole Grant earned recognition.
In order for a pair to be eligible for the award, two athletes must compete in at least 15 matches together and at a specific flight number. Should that pair win at least 75% of their matches, those athletes achieved “Top Flight” status.
Brok and Morris, went 16-5 at No. 2 on the season, winning 19 matches overall, becoming FAU’s all-time leaders for career matches won as a pair in the process. The tandem hold a career record of 44-16 (.733).
Silva and Grant played together for the first time this season and immediately jelled, going 13-4 in 17 matches at No. 3. Silva won 31 matches in just two years as an Owl, while Grant finished her FAU career with 64 match wins, second most in school history.
