USF Football: Bulls add home date vs. Howard in 2022

Bulls to face FCS program led by former USF player and coach Larry Scott;

USF moves previously scheduled game dates with UMass (2022) and Florida A&M (2023)

TAMPA, FEB. 11, 2021 – USF will take on one of its own in the 2022 season as head coach Jeff Scott announced the addition of a home date vs. the Howard University Bison led by former Bulls’ player and longtime coach Larry Scott.

The Bulls and Bison are set to meet on Sept. 10, 2022 in Raymond James Stadium, a game that will also feature the return of Bison wide receivers coach Lindsey Lamar, the 2010 Big East Special Teams Player of the Year as a Bulls’ kick returner and also a longtime member of the USF football staff.

USF also announced the movement of two previously scheduled dates in the 2022 and 2023 seasons. The Bulls’ 2022 date vs. UMass (originally scheduled for Oct. 22) has been moved to the 2030 season with a date to be announced later. USF’s 2023 date vs. Florida A&M (originally scheduled for Sept. 23) has been moved up two weeks to Sept. 9, 2023 in Raymond James Stadium.

A Division I FCS program and member of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference, Howard did not compete in the fall of 2020, its first season under Scott, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Bison posted a 2-10 record in the 2019 season, prior to Scott’s arrival.

Scott was a member of the USF football staff for eight years from 2005-12 and is a 2000 graduate of USF. A member of the Bulls’ first football team in 1997, Scott lettered in three seasons as an offensive lineman (1997-99).

The addition of the 2022 date vs. the Bison gives the Bulls’ three non-conference dates in 2022: vs. Howard (Sept. 10), at Florida (Sept. 17) and at Louisville (Sept. 24).

Season ticket renewals are currently ongoing with more than 92 percent renewed for 2021. New season ticket sales will begin March 1. Secure your seats for the 2021 season by calling or texting 1-800-GoBulls or by visiting USFBULLSTIX.com.
