Lynn Inducts 2019 Athletics Hall of Fame

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Alums Beau McMillan, Lacy Redwine, Devon Woolard and Daniel Young officially joined the ranks of the Lynn University Athletics Hall of Fame as the Class of 2019. The four-person class was enshrined at the Eighth Annual Student-Athlete Recognition Awards Show on Wednesday, May 1, at the Wold Performing Arts Center.

These four inductees will bring the total number of Lynn University Athletic Hall of Fame members to 70.

McMillan was a student-athlete for the baseball program from 2001-04 and later served as an assistant coach at his alma mater from 2009-14. During his time donning the Blue and White he was the first position player in program history to earn All-Sunshine State Conference First Team and ABCA All-South Region First Team honors and the first two-time First Team All-SSC and All-South Region selection. He also ranks in the top-10 in 18 game, season and career records, including owning records for career runs scored, total bases and stolen bases and attempts. During his time coaching, the Fighting Knights went 188-127, reached the NCAA Tournament three times and won the 2009 NCAA Division II National Championship.

It is fitting both Redwine and Woolard enter the Hall of Fame together as the duo were teammates on the volleyball team from 2007-10, providing the backdrop for the most successful four-year run in program history. Lynn posted four consecutive 20+ win seasons, going 87-48 with four NCAA Tournament appearances, the first in program history.

Redwine became the first libero for the volleyball program to earn All-America accolades, the second player in program history to be honored as a two-time All-American and is the highest recognized All-American in program history (Second Team). She was honored as a two-time AVCA First Team All-Region selection, two-time Academic All-District and two-time All-SSC selection. Additionally she was the first libero to garner First Team All-SSC honors. She left Lynn as the program leader for digs and digs per set in a season and digs, sets played and matches played for a career.

Woolard was the first setter in program history to earn AVCA All-America and First Team All-Region honors and she bookended her career with SSC All-Freshman and First Team All-SSC accolades as a senior. Not only impressive on the court but in the classroom as well, she was the first female student-athlete at Lynn to be a three-time First Team Academic All-District selection along with a two-time Academic All-American. Woolard ended her career as the only volleyball player with 1000 assists and 1000 digs and first in total assists while ranking in the top-10 in nine categories.

Young ushered the men’s golf program into a golden era of success that has continued to this day. The Scotland native participated in three NCAA Division II National Championships, including runner-up finishes in 2011 and 2013, the first two in program history. In addition, he was the national championship individual runner-up in 2011, losing on the third playoff hole. Young’s accomplishments are numerous and significant as he is the first three-time All-American, first three-time All-SSC selection and first two-time First Team All-SSC honoree in the program’s storied history while also becoming the third golfer to garner SSC All-Championship recognition twice.

The Class of 2019 becomes the 19^th class to be inducted into the Lynn University Athletic Hall of Fame. Women’s Tennis leads the way with 12 selections followed closely by men’s soccer with 11 members. Women’s Soccer is third with nine and administrators/coaches fourth with seven selections. Baseball and men’s golf is next with six picks, volleyball and men’s tennis with four, men’s and women’s basketball each with three selections and women’s golf and softball have two honorees apiece.
