The Bulls are making their seventh consecutive trip to NCAA Regionals. Sixth-seeded USF will compete in the Stanford Regional May 13-15 in California.
The low five teams and the low individual not on those teams from each of the six regional sites will advance to the final rounds of the NCAA Championship that will be played May 24-29 at Blessings Golf Club in Fayetteville, Ark.
TAMPA, MAY 1, 2019 – USF’s pursuit of the NCAA Division I Men’s Golf Championship title begins in California.
Head coach Steve Bradley’s sixth-seeded Bulls were one of 13 teams selected to compete in the Stanford Regional that will take place Monday, May 13 through Wednesday, May 15 at Stanford Golf Course. The low five teams and the low individual not on those teams from each of the six 54-hole regional tournaments advance to the championship rounds.
USF earned its seventh consecutive trip to NCAA Regionals with a new-look lineup led by American Athletic Conference Freshman of the Year Albin Bergstrom(Ljunghusen, Sweden). All-conference teammate Kyle Flexsenhar, a junior from Lake Mary, Fla., is the lone Bull remaining from last year’s squad that competed in the Kissimmee, Fla., Regional.
Bergstrom is one of three freshmen in the current lineup that also includes first-year Bull Ryoto Furuya, a junior transfer from Alpharetta, Ga. Together, the Bulls have won two tournament titles this season and they’re currently listed at No. 36 in the latest Golfstat national rankings.
Final rounds of the NCAA Championship will be played May 24-29 at Blessings Golf Club in Fayetteville, Ark. The Bulls will be looking to make the NCAA Championship rounds for the third time in the past five seasons after competing for the title in 2015 and 2016.

Head coach Steve Bradley’s thoughts on the Stanford Regional selection:
“I think it’s a great regional for us. Arizona State is the No. 2 team in the country. Stanford is playing on its home golf course, but outside of that almost every other team is either from the Southeast, or the East Coast, or playing on Bermuda grass. To go out West, we’ve got some time zone changes. We’ve got bent grass versus Bermuda grass, so we’re all kind of in the same boat. We’re having to deal with some jet lag and not really knowing much about the grass and golf course. Every team that is playing in the regional, none of them played in Stanford’s home event this year, so we’re all going to go out there and have to figure it out together.”
“I think it’s really good for us. I know it’s a hard golf course. Stanford had their home event in late March and they were only team that broke par. It’s not going to be a birdie-fest and I think that bodes well for us.”
Bradley on the team extending the program’s NCAA Regional streak to seven consecutive seasons:
“I think it just shows you how far we’ve come in the last 10 years and what we’re trying to build here. We want to compete with the best teams in the country and have an opportunity to win a national championship. First, you have put to yourself in a position to get to regionals. Getting there seven straight times is fantastic. I have no doubt in my mind that the guys are confident and we’re confident in them that we’re going to go out there and we’re going to get one of those five spots to go to Arkansas and compete for a national championship. We’re hitting it pretty good, we’re playing pretty good and our minds are in the right spot. We’re a pretty confident bunch right now.”
