Bulls return to action on Wednesday at Wichita State.
IRVING, Texas (Jan. 16, 2021) – The American Athletic Conference has announced that the women’s basketball game between Memphis and No. 16/17 USF, scheduled for Sunday, Jan. 17 (4 p.m., ESPNU), has been canceled.
The game was canceled after Memphis deemed itself unable to compete in the game due to health and safety concerns involving its roster.
Per American Athletic Conference policy, the final decision to play or not play a particular game rests with the affected institutions. The conference will work with Memphis and USF, and if necessary, the unaffected member institutions, to determine how the game will be classified.
The Bulls will return to action on Wednesday, Jan. 22 when they travel to the nation’s heartland to face Wichita State, in the first game of a two-game road trip. Game time against the Shockers is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET with the game being carried live on ESPN+.
Individual ticket buyers will be contacted directly by the USF athletics ticket office as to further options regarding this game.

USF notched its ninth consecutive 19-win season and was poised for its ninth straight postseason appearance in 2019-20 before the COVID-19 pandemic forced the end of the college basketball season. The Bulls celebrated two all-conference honorees in Elena Tsineke and Elisa Pinzan. Tsineke was named the American Athletic Conference Freshman of the Year, in addition to The American All-Freshman Team and Third Team All-Conference; while Pinzan was named a Third Team All-Conference selection.
USF has made 15 postseason tournament appearances and had six NCAA Tournament berths in head coach Jose Fernandez’s 20 seasons. The all-time winningest coach in program history, Fernandez has guided USF to nine 20-win seasons, two WNIT final four appearances, the 2009 WNIT championship and won more than 350 games.
