BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — WKU Football is staying busy and aggressive this offseason. After signing seven players during the early signing period and college football’s 2020 passing leader on Christmas, seven more FBS transfers have joined the Hilltoppers over the past two weeks.
Although head coach Tyson Helton and his staff faced recruiting challenges related to the COVID-19 pandemic, they continue to bring in a wealth of talent and high-character individuals to the program. Of the seven most recent signees, four are from Power Five conferences. The other three – from the Mid-American Conference (MAC) and American Athletic Conference (AAC) – have combined to make 48 career starts.
Daewood Davis

Called “the most unselfish guy I’ve ever coached” by Oregon head coach Mario Cristobal, Davis played wide receiver and cornerback during his time as a Duck. After redshirting the 2017 season, played in seven games and caught one pass for 13 yards in 2018. Had a breakout 2019 campaign, with nine receptions for 89 yards and a touchdown in 13 games, helping Oregon win the Pac-12 Championship over No. 5 Utah and Rose Bowl over No. 8 Wisconsin. Had a career game vs. Nevada, with four catches for 39 yards and a 13-yard score. Also had four kickoff returns for 93 yards that year. Appeared in one game in 2020 after earning his bachelor’s degree in General Social Science in the spring.

Lefebvre (pronounced luh-FAYVE) is a two-time bowl champion (2020 Camellia Bowl and 2019 Bahamas Bowl) and four-time MAC All-Academic Team member. Played in 40 games for Buffalo in four seasons – with 21 starts – after redshirting his first year in 2016. Started all seven games for the Bulls in 2020 and was voted Third Team All-MAC, with 13 receptions for 169 yards and one touchdown. Had a career-high 67 yards vs. Miami (Ohio) and a career-best five receptions vs. Ball State in the MAC Championship game. Played in 11 games in 2019, with 21 catches for 235 yards and two scores. Both touchdowns came in the season opener vs. Robert Morris, including a career-long 40-yarder. Had 10 catches for 84 yards in 2018 and five receptions for 51 yards and one touchdown in 2017.

Pitts spent five years at Cincinnati, where he played in 38 total games – starting 22 – after redshirting during the 2016 season. Posted 77 total tackles (37 solo, 40 assisted) – including 17.5 for loss – with 9.5 sacks for the Bearcats. The majority of his damage came during the 2019 (30 tackles – including 9.5 for loss – with 5.5 sacks in 13 games) and 2018 (34 tackles – including 7.5 for loss – with four sacks in 13 games) campaigns. Started one game in 2020 and posted seven tackles, with a forced fumble vs. Army. Also accumulated four quarterback hurries, five pass breakups and a blocked extra point in his Cincinnati career.

Shaw appeared in 22 games in three seasons at North Carolina, with 19 tackles – including a tackle for loss – and a forced fumble. Had a career day vs. Mercer in 2019, with a career-high four tackles and a three-yard tackle for loss. Had two tackles and a forced fumble vs. Pitt in 2018. Played in all 12 games as a true freshman in 2017, then played four games in 2018 and redshirted, then played in six games in 2019. Did not compete in 2020, choosing to opt out before announcing his intention to transfer. Earned his undergraduate degree from North Carolina this fall.

Appeared in four games and played 33 snaps at numerous positions along the offensive line in 2019 after redshirting his first season in 2018. Graduated from Cardinal Gibbons HS, where he played as a senior after transferring from Coral Springs HS. Scout.com named him one of the top 10 offensive prospects at the UA All-America Camp in Miami.

Williams appeared in 23 games in three seasons at Michigan State, with 14 tackles, a forced fumble and two fumble recoveries. Played in three games in 2017 and redshirted, then played in all 13 games in 2018, recording six tackles, a forced fumble and two fumble recoveries. Played in all seven of the Spartans’ contests in 2020, tallying eight tackles, including a career-high four vs. No. 10 Indiana. Played for head coach Jermain Crowell at Belleville HS. Ranked among the top cornerbacks in the state of Michigan, earning the No. 1 spot from 247Sports and No. 3 by ESPN. Ranked the No. 18 cornerback in the country by 247Sports.

Wilson started 23 games from 2018-to-2020 and appeared in 39 total contests in four years suiting up for the Cornhuskers. After redshirting the 2016 season, appeared in all 12 games in 2017, seeing action on the offensive line, on special teams and even as a fullback in goal line formations. Once again played in all 12 games in 2018, starting the final nine contests at right guard while being named All-Big Ten Honorable Mention. In his nine starts at right guard, Nebraska averaged 490.3 yards of total offense per game, helping the Huskers rank 25th nationally in total offense in 2018. The Cornhuskers posted their most yards (659 vs. Minnesota) and highest point total (54 vs. Illinois) in a Big Ten game since the program joined the league in 2011. Started all 12 games at right guard again in 2019 and helped Nebraska rank third in the Big Ten in rushing offense and fifth in total offense. For the second straight season, the Cornhuskers produced their most yards (690 at Illinois) while tying their most points (54 at Maryland) in a league contest. In 2020, started the first two games of the year to reach 23 consecutive starts. Overall, played in four of the team’s eight games, helping Nebraska rank second in the Big Ten in rushing offense. Earned All-Big Ten Academic honors in each of the past four years and was a six-time Cornhusker Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll member. Earned his bachelor’s degree in Criminology in the fall.
