No. 2 Lynn Women’s Tennis Opens SSC Championships with Tars Sweep

Bradenton, Fla. – Lynn University’s second-ranked women’s tennis team opened up the 2019 Sunshine State Conference Tournament on Friday with a 4-0 victory over Rollins College.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

·         Lynn cruised through doubles play for an early advantage.

·         Leolia Jeanjean and Ulyana Grib took the top flight, 6-0, with Eleonora Liga and Giorgia Pigato winning at No. 3, 6-1.

·         Federica Mordegan and Eliska Petrackova were ahead 4-2 at No. 2 doubles.

·         The Blue and White needed just three singles bouts to wrap up the victory.

·         Jeanjean won at the top flight, 6-2, 6-1, Grib took the No. 2 contest, 6-2, 6-3, and Mordegan clinched at No. 3, 6-2, 6-3.

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:

·         Lynn defeated Rollins during the regular season, 7-0.

·         Due to a weather delay in the morning affecting the men’s matches, the women’s matches only had three available courts at the start of singles action.

UP NEXT:

The Blue and White will take on the No. 3 seed Saint Leo tomorrow at 2 p.m. in the semifinals.
