MIAMI (Dec. 21, 2020) – Sophomore sensation Lexington Joseph headlined FIU football’s Conference USA All-Conference selections on Monday, as the Panther was named to the second team for his efforts on special teams.

Joseph returned FIU’s opening kickoff 100 yards for a touchdown, while averaging 33.5 yards per return prior to suffering a season-ending injury midway through the year. Joseph was joined by 10 other Panthers, with nine named to the C-USA Honorable Mention Team and Nate Jefferson collecting C-USA All-Freshman Team honors.
FIU’s entire starting secondary was named to the C-USA Honorable Mention Team, as Richard Dames, Rishard Dames, Dorian Hall and Josh Turner were recognized for their efforts by the league. FIU’s secondary ranked 17th-best in the nation for passing yards allowed on the year.
Davon Strickland and Shane McGough were also named to the C-USA Honorable Mention team, with the honor being a first for sophomore defensive tackle Strickland.
The league-leader in rush yards per carry, D’vonte Price, was also named to the C-USA Honorable Mention Team. Price also ranked 10th in the nation for rush yards per game this past season, after averaging 116.2 yards per contest.
Rounding out FIU’s C-USA Honorable Mention Team members were punter Tommy Heatherly and long snapper Tommy Zozus. Heatherly was the only non-Power 5 punter to be named a semifinalist for the prestigious Ray Guy Award this past month.
