Florida stays put in the second installment of the CSCAA Poll.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Florida swimming and diving remained the No. 10 team in the second College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Top 25 Poll of the 2020-21 season.
The Gators stay as the tenth-ranked team with an overall dual mark of 1-1, picking up a victory in their home opener versus Miami and falling on the road to now-No. 1 Georgia in their season opener.
Against the Hurricanes, Florida would claim all 14 swimming events, including the top-three marks in five individual events. Additionally, five swimmers would reel in their first individual victory as a Gator.
In their season opener with the top-ranked Bulldogs, Lain Shahboz would lead Florida in the water with her first collegiate victory in the 100 back. Gators divers claimed both springboards in the opener as Ashley McCool (1-M) and Elizabeth Perez (3-M) picked up where they left off last season. Additionally, Vanessa Pearl claimed two B-cuts in both breast events, with Cecilia Porter also meeting the time standard in the 100 breast.
Currently, UF is competing at the Auburn Fall Invitational, a three-day championship style meet. After the first day, the Gators led by a score of 160-127 thanks to Talia Bates’ top-10 program swim in the 50 free swim (22.30) and the nation’s top 500 free effort posted by Leah Braswell.
Friday will conclude the swimming portion of Florida’s fall slate, while the divers will compete in the last event of 2020 at the Miami Diving Invitational.
The Gators will be back in the water with their first SEC home meet against Texas A&M on Jan. 9.
