Daytona Beach, Fla. – Lynn University’s 10th-ranked men’s tennis team went on the road Monday, closing out the 2019 regular-season slate with a 6-1 Sunshine State Conference victory over 37th-ranked Embry-Riddle.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
· A shift in doubles pairings didn’t throw off the squad as Lynn swept tandem play.
· Florian Clemares and Jose Porfirio Ordonez took the top flight, 6-4, Patrick Bessinger and Kay Bartmann won at No. 2 in a tiebreaker, 7-6 (7-5), while Lucca Baptista and Gabriel Hocevar rounded out the sweep at No. 3 (6-1).
· Baptista got on the board first in singles play after his opponent retired down in the second set at No. 2.
· After a tough first set, Clemares rebounded strong for a three-set win at No. 3 (1-6, 6-1, 6-2).
· Porfirio Ordonez clinched the match for the Blue and White with a 6-3, 6-4 triumph at No. 4.
· Hocevar (6-0, 7-5), and Robin Calais (6-0, 5-7, 10-6) rounded out Lynn’s winners at the fifth and sixth flights, respectively.
· In a battle of nationally-ranked players, the Eagles claimed their lone point at the top flight.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
· The Fighting Knights finish with the season with their best SSC record (7-1) since 2014.
· This match was originally scheduled for last Tuesday, but was postponed due to rain.
· Last season, Lynn and ERAU met three times, with Lynn winning all three matches (regular season, SSC Tournament third-place match, NCAA South Region).
UP NEXT:
Lynn will take the No. 2 seed into the SSC Championships, slated to begin on Friday, April 26, in Bradenton, Fla.
