UF Women's Swim & Dive | Gators Add Mack for 2020-21 Campaign

The former NC State swimmer will jump right into competition with UF this year.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The University of Florida women’s swimming and diving team and head coach Jeff Poppell has officially announced the addition of Katelyn Mack for the upcoming season.

Mack will be immediately eligible for the Gators after spending her freshman season at NC State. In her first collegiate season, she advanced to the finals in all three of her individual events at the 2020 Atlantic Coast Conference Championships meet.

She would qualify and swim in the B-Final of the 200 free and the 200 back after setting season-best efforts in each event prelim. In the freestyle, she would place 14th with a swim of 1:47.50, which finished as the fifth-fastest time on NC State’s team. Additionally, the freshman tallied a 16th-place finish in the back.

Mack’s swim of 1:58.71 in the 200 IM C-Final landed her a B-cut and a new personal-best in her third and final even at ACC’s.

Throughout the 2019-20 season, Mack also took to the water in the 100 free three times for the Wolfpack.

The Ashburn, Va. native also achieved success in the classroom as she was named to the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar Academic All-American Honorable Mention team for posting a GPA of 3.50 and achieving a B-cut time throughout the season.

Mack was ranked as the No. 20 recruit in the 2019 class according to CollegeSwimming.com. Prior to her collegiate career, Mack was a 2020 Olympic Trials qualifier and a three-time B-finalist (200 back in 2018, 50 and 200 back in 2019) at USA Summer Nationals. At the 2019 NCSA Junior Nationals, she would compete in the 100 free, 100 back, 200 back and 200 IM A-final.
