JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Jaguars have signed sixth-year FB Bruce Miller and waived rookie FB Connor Slomka, the club announced today.
Miller, 6-2, 248, was originally selected by the 49ers in the seventh round (211th) of the 2011 NFL Draft. He appeared in 77 games (47 starts) with San Francisco from 2011-15 and caught 76 passes for 734 yards and three TDs, adding 28 carries for 62 yards and one TD. In 2013, he recorded a career-high 25 receptions for 243 yards for the 49ers. Miller converted from defensive end to fullback during his tenure with the 49ers.
Miller played defensive end at UCF from 2007-10 and was named All-Conference USA all four years, earning Conference USA Defensive Player of the Year in 2009 and 2010. He is the Knights’ all-time sack leader with 35.5 career sacks, including 13.0 as a junior.
Miller will wear No. 43 for the Jaguars.
