12 ranked teams competed at the event
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., March 18, 2019 – The USF women’s sailing team finished 10th at this past weekend’s St. Mary’s Spring Regatta in Maryland.
Of the 18 teams competing, 12 were ranked, including USF at 19. The Bulls finished ahead of No. 12 George Washington University and No. 16 Navy.
No. 2 Yale took the top spot, followed by No. 11 Harvard, No. 6 Hobart, No. 4 Boston College, and No. 7 Boston University to round out the top-five.
USF entered Sunday just one point outside of fifth, and finished within 30 points of a top-six finish.
Nota-Bulls
- The A division of sophomore Marina Barzaghi (Saunderstown, R.I.) and senior Darby Capellin (Bradenton, Fla.) finished seventh.
- Sophomore Katie Bornarth (Jensen Beach, Fla.) and senior Rachel Yannelli (Woodcliff Lake, N.J.) finished 10th in the B division.

The Bulls will be at the Duplin Women’s Team Race in Medford, Mass. March 23-24.
About USF Sailing
The USF sailing program has reached the national finals in six of the last seven years. The Bulls finished in the top 10 during the 2012 and 2013 seasons. The sailing team is based out of St. Petersburg and led by head coach Allison Jolly, a former USA Olympian and 2016 Florida Sports Hall of Fame inductee.
