Two NSU Rowers Earn CRCA Scholar Athlete Distinction

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern rowing team had two student-athletes in Ava Carollo and Emily Stewart receive Scholar Athlete Award honors from the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA).

With the award requirements modified slightly for the 2020 season, student-athletes must be in their second, third or fourth year of eligibility, must be ranked performance-wise in the top 50 percent of their team, or in the “NCAA Squad” (whichever is smaller) at the conclusion of the 2020 season, and must have a 3.50 cumulative GPA or higher for their career.

With Stewart a junior Exercise and Sport Science major and Carollo a sophomore Finance major, both are first-time honorees for the CRCA award. As a team, the Sharks finished the challenging winter semester with a 3.41 GPA.

“We are incredibly proud of the students on our team that manage to hold above a 3.5 GPA while also representing Nova Southeastern at a high level athletically,” head coach Devin Fay said. “These two are committed to the success of our team in all areas.”
