The outside hitter is one of 28 players selected to the national squad
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – One member of the Florida volleyball team earned a spot on the U.S. Collegiate National Team – Anaheim Roster – as USA Volleyball announced Wednesday afternoon.
Junior outside hitter Paige Hammons earned her way onto the 28-player squad, comprised of current collegiate players.
Hammons was tabbed to the roster as one of eight outside hitters.
This is not the first experience for Hammons competing with USA. She was a member of the Junior National Team from 2016-17 and competed with the Youth National Team in 2015. In 2017, Hammons won a gold medal at the U20 Pan American Championships.
The Louisville, Ky. native won two silver medals – one with the Junior National Team at the 2016 NORCECA Championships and one with the Youth National Team at the 2015 FIVB World Youth Championships.
Three members of the Anaheim Roster compete in the Southeastern Conference, with Florida, Texas A&M and Kentucky each having a player selected. This is in addition to the eight members of the SEC selected to the Gold Roster earlier this month.
The CNT Anaheim will train June 21-27 in Anaheim at the American Sports Centers where they will compete side-by-side with the U.S. Women’s National Team as it makes final preparations for the Tokyo Olympic Games.
Earlier this month USA Volleyball named the 28-player CNT-Gold roster, which will train July 5-12 in Anaheim. From the Gators, T’ara Ceasar, Holly Carton and Marlie Monserez were selected to be a member of the Gold roster.
In total, 56 CNT athletes were selected through the U.S. Women’s National Team Open Tryouts held Feb. 21-23 at the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
